Family:Whitney, Simon (1756-1826)

Simon⁶ Whitney (Timothy⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Timothy⁵ and Alice (Whitney) Whitney, was born 28 Jun 1756, Harvard, MA,^[1], and died 12 Mar 1826, Petersham, MA.

He married 20 Mar 1783, Petersham, MA, Lucy Hammond of Newton, daughter of Enoch Hammond. She was born 24 Dec 1766, Petersham, MA, and died 1846.

20 May 1824, Oliver and the widow Lucy, were appointed executors of Simon's will. In it were mentioned, wife Lucy, sons Oliver, Lewis and John Whitney, daus. Nancy Whitney and Julia Ann Whitney, son Timothy, daus. Lucy Bryant, Betsey Bowker, sons Simon and George. He resided Petersham, MA.

ii.	Lucy Whitney, b. 17 May 1791; d. 15 Jan 1876, Essex, VT; m. Essex, VT, Amasa Bryant. He was born 18 Oct 1791; died 12 Aug 1861; resided Essex, Vermont; he was a prominent citizen and farmer. Ch.: Charlotte Eliza, born 7 Jul 1825; married 1 Nov 1849, Hiram R. Prate; resided Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ellen Amelia, born 23 Jul 1834; married 27 Nov 1856, Enoch Howe, resided Burlington, Vermont.
iii.	Nancy Whitney, born 29 Apr 1785; died 12 Sep 1786.
iv.	Timothy Whitney, born 2 Apr 1789; married Lucy Bryant.
v.	Betsey Whitney, born 19 Dec 1793; married 10 Nov 1814, John Bowker, born Mar. 10, 1791; died 22 Jan 1871. She died 17 Jan 1844. Ch.: Helen M., born 8 Nov 1832; resided Pembroke, New Hampshire; Julia F., born 11 Nov 1834; married Charles E. Eaton; resided S.
