He was the chief merchant in Lanesborough and postmaster for many years; also Register of Deeds for Berkshire County. He was a fine penman, accurate, and methodical. Was a prominent member of the Congregational Church. He died 14 Feb 1841; resided Petersham, Otis, and Lanesborough, Massachusetts.

Timothy6 Whitney (Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Timothy5 and Alice (Whitney) Whitney,[1] was born 22 Apr 1766, Petersham, MA,[2] and died 14 Feb 1841, Lanesborough, MA.

He married firstly, Lois Baker. She was born 30 May 1770, and died 2 Mar 1826.

He married secondly, Mrs. Smith.
