Cornelius6 Whitney (William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William5 and Arcoucher (Dutcher) Whitney, was born 31 Dec 1753, Salisbury, CT,[1] and died 16 Nov 1829, Canaan, CT.

He married 9 Apr 1778, Hannah Green. Some sources call her "Hetty" instead of "Hannah", but she was Hannah in her pension application and in the 1840 census. She was born about 1759 and died between 1840 and 1850. After his death she lived at Sheffield, MA.

He was in the Revolutionary war, and in 1809 sold land in Sheffield. He resided Canaan, CT, and Sheffield, MA.

Children of Cornelius6 and Hannah (Green) Whitney (probably incomplete, order uncertain):

i. Ruluff Dutcher7 Whitney, b. 3 Mar 1794; m. Bathsheba Fuller.
ii. Everett Whitney, b. 1800; m. and resided East Pembroke, NY, leaving son, Alphonso, who resided in Salisbury, CT.
iii. Hannah Whitney.
iv. Abigail Whitney.
v. Eunice Whitney.
vi. William Whitney.

Notes

What relationship E. Everett of Sheffield, MA, in 1840, had to widow Hannah Whitney, living in his household, is unknown.
