Josiah Davis⁸ Whitney (Jonas Prescott⁷, Josiah⁶, Josiah⁵, David⁴, Benjamin³, John², John¹), son of Jonas Prescott⁷ and Rebecca (Piper) Whitney, was born 7 Nov 1818, Ashby, MA, and died 5 Feb 1902, Brattleboro, VT, aged 83 years 2 months 28 days, of cancerous liver.^[1]

He married, 5 Dec 1842, Lucy Day Chapin, daughter of William and Lucy (Day) Chapin. She was born 21 Dec 1818, Chicopee, MA, and died 1 Jan 1893, Boston, MA, aged 74 years.^[2]

He, of Brattleboro, VT, married secondly, 1 Feb 1899, Bernardston, MA, Alice L. (Yeaw) Hicks, of Bernardston, daughter of Abel Gilbert & Susan C. (Clark) Yeaw.^[3] She was born about 1862, Halifax, VT, and died after 1899. She had married firstly, 14 Jun 1887, Guilford, VT, Hernando A. Hicks.

He is a manufacturer of organ reeds; resided Brattleboro, VT.

ii.	Edwin Davis Whitney, b. 4 Apr 1856; m. 27 Apr 1881, Julia Spring Brooks; resided Brattleboro, VT. She was b. 22 Mar 1857; Ch.: Harold Edward, b. 29 Feb 1884; Edwina Augusta, b. 18 Aug 1885; Alice Lucy, b. 5 Apr 1887; Merrill Brooks, b. 26 May 1891.

Josiah Davis⁸ and Alice L. (Yeaw)(Hicks) Whitney had no children.
