Asa Whitney, parentage unknown but perhaps a son of Ebenezer⁶ Whitney (Ezekiel⁵, Ezekiel⁴, Ebenezer³, Richard², John¹), was born 14 Aug 1804, Pleasant Valley, NY, and died 24 Apr 1863, Sharon, CT.

He married, before 1825, Julia Quick. She was born 4 Jul 1807, and died Jun 1850, Amenia, NY of consumption.

He married secondly, between 1850 and 1860, Margaret -----. She was born about 1810, NY, and died after 1860, and apparently before 1870.

According to family tradition, the Elizabeth Whitney listed with the family in 1850 was Asa's sister.
