Family:Whitney, Joseph (1794-1876)

Joseph⁸ Whitney (William⁷, William⁶, William⁵, William⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of William⁷ and Anna (Heywood) Whitney, was born 28 Feb 1794, and died 12 May 1876.

He married, 6 May 1818, Nancy Putnam. She was born 3 Jun 1798, and died 29 Mar 1880.

Joseph Whitney was a farmer, and lived in Winchendon, on the farm where his grandfather resided (his name was William, and the first Whitney that settled in those parts). On the death of his father he went to Gardner, and resided on the home place. He resided Gardner, Massachusetts.

Children of Joseph⁸ Whitney and Nancy (Putnam) Whitney:

i.	Ivers9 Whitney, b. 30 Jan 1819; m.(1) Lucy Whitney; m.(2) Rhoda Adams.
ii.	Eliza Whitney, b. 24 Sep 1820; m. 20 May 1852, James M. Peck, of Orange, MA. He d. Fitchburg, MA. She resided Rindge, New Hampshire Ch.: Mary Frances, b. 30 May 1856; d. 18 Jun 1877.
iii.	Carolina Whitney, b. 17 Oct 1824; d. 19 Feb 1876. Ivers was appointed admr. of her estate, 7 Mar 1876.
