Abel⁶ Whitney (Timothy⁵, Jonas⁴, Moses³, Richard², John¹), son of Timothy⁵ and Alice (Whitney) Whitney;^[1] born 29 Sep 1752, Harvard, Massachusetts;^[2] died 7 Aug 1807, Guilford, Vermont, in his 59th year.^[3]

He married 1 Nov 1775, Petersham, Massachusetts, Elizabeth Spenny,^[4] parentage unknown.^[5] She was born about 1753;^[6] died 15 Feb 1795, Guilford, Vermont, in her 42nd year.^[7]

He resided Harvard, Massachusetts, and Guilford, Vermont.

i.	Abel7 Whitney, born about 1778, m.(1) Anna -----, and m.(2) Betsey Phillips, according to Guilford, Windham County, Vermont, vital records. (The Abel Whitney who married Abigail H. Townsend was his cousin).
