Thomas Whitney, was born 18 Apr 1764,[1] supposedly in Ireland,[2] and died 21 Aug 1819,[3] Lexington, Fayette Co., KY.[4] He was buried Old Episcopal Third Street Cemetery, Lexington, Fayette Co., KY.[5]
He probably married, perhaps about 1788, Mary ----.[6]
Fayette County, Kentucky Thomas Whitney, early cabinet maker, native of Ireland, advertised a house for sale in 1795. He continued in the cabinet- making business through 1806, when his shop was on Main Street. Book 49, P 345.[7]
From the State Archives, Page 52, among expenditures 1792-1798, was one for Thomas Whitney, 1794, as one of the veneremen.[8]
On 20 Dec 1799, a record concerning "Paving the street in Lexington" mentions John Poftlethwait(?), Thomas Whitney, Adam Rankin, and Andrew Briggs.[9]
In 1806, "Thomas Whitney, Cabinet-Maker" was listed on Main Street in Lexington, KY.[10]
In 1818, "Thomas Whitney, Cabinet-Maker" was listed on Main Street in Lexington, KY.[11]
The Mary Whitney enumerated in Lexington in 1820 was probably his widow.
