Dr. Simon7 Whitney (Nathaniel Ruggles6, Simon5, Daniel4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Nathaniel Ruggles6 and Abigail (Fotheringham) Whitney, was born 30 Oct 1797, Watertown, MA, and died 2 Sep 1861, Framingham, MA.
He married, 6 May 1824, Mary Walker.
Dr. Simon Whitney was born in Watertown. In early life he was a teacher, having recieved his preparatory education in Newton and Brighton. He entered Harvard College, and graduated in 1818. Later he taught school in Charlestown, and, having studied medicine, he settled in Framingham, where he ever after resided. He was representative in the state legislature in 1853. He resided Framingham, MA.

i. Elizabeth W.8 Whitney, b. 15 Jul 1825; d. 1894, and was buried in Framingham; m. 30 Aug 1845, John W. Osgood, M.D. of Saxonville, MA, and had three children. ii. Mary Whitney, b. 16 Aug 1826; d. same day. iii. Allston Waldo Whitney, b. 15 Jun 1828; m. Sarah Ellen Bishop. iv. Abby Walker Whitney, b. 20 Jul 1829. v. Henry Augustus Whitney, b. 11 Jan 1831; drowned 22 Jul 1840. vi. Harriett Lincoln Whitney, b. 3 Oct 1833. vii. Clarence Whitney, b. 1 Jan 1838.[1] viii. Jonas Bradish Whitney, b. 22 Aug 1843; resided Reading, PA.
