Thomas Whitney, parentage unknown, was born circa 1805, NC and died sometime after 1880.
He married, circa 1895, Margaret -----, b. ca. 1810, NC.
He may have had a younger brother named Charles Whitney, b. ca. 1830, NC, a blacksmith residing in his household in 1880.
Children of Thomas and Margaret (-----) Whitney, possibly incomplete:
i. Augustus R. Whitney, b. ca. 1846, NC. ii. Charles Whitney, b. ca. 1856, NC. iii. Samuel Whitney, b. ca. 1858, NC.

Was he perhaps descended from one of the 23 slaves owned by Family:Whitney, Sarah (?-a1790) of Hyde Co., NC?
