Family:Whitney, Caleb (1749-1822)
Rev. Caleb5 Whitney (Joshua4, Richard3, Richard2, John1), son of Dea. Joshua4 and Zerviah (-----) Whitney, was born 23 May 1749, Stow, MA,[1] and died Oct 1822, Concord, NH, aged 73 years.[2]
Marriage intentions were published 1 Dec 1770, Stow, MA, for him and Katharine Maxwell.[3] She was born circa 1750, possibly Stow, MA.
He married secondly, 18 Dec 1777, Bradford, MA, Sarah Trask,[4] both "of Bradford", daughter of Samuel and Sarah (-----) Trask.[5] She was born 20 Mar 1757, Bradford, MA.[6]
"Soldiers Who Lived and Died in Concord, Were From Other Towns in the Rev.: Caleb Whitney, from Stow, Mass. died Oct. 1822, age 73, was a gunsmith in the Army. He married Sarah Trask of Bedford, Mass., where he settled and raised a family of five children. They moved to Haverhill, Mass. where they had four more children. From there they went to Pembroke, NH, where they lived ten years. Their last move was to Concord, NH, where he followed the trade of blacksmith. He was the father of John, Betsey and Hannah Whitney, and others." He lived before 1775 at Stow, MA. He and Sarah Trask lived between 1777 and 1787 at Bradford, MA. He and Sarah Trask lived after 1787 at Haverhill, MA. He appeared on the census of 1790 at Haverhill, MA. He and Sarah Trask lived between 1797 and 1807 at Pembroke, NH. He and Sarah Trask lived after 1807 at Concord, NH. He appeared on the census of 1810 at Concord, NH. He applied for a pension for service in the Continental Line, Massachusetts, File #S-43323; in 1820 soldier was aged 70 and stated he lived with his son (not named); soldier had enlisted at Marblehead, MA.
On 16 Apr 1818 he lived at Concord, NH. He was on the Revolutionary War Pension List in 1820, NH.
There were no children of Caleb5 and Katharine (Maxwell) Whitney.
