Rev. John7 Whitney (Salmon6, Jonas5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Salmon6 and Hepsabeth (Raymond) Whitney, was born 1 Sep 1803, Harvard, MA,[1] and died 31 May 1879, Newton, MA.

Marriage intentions were published 20 Sep 1835, Boxford, MA, for him "Rev." and Mary A. Jewett "of Gloucester".[2] He "of Boxford" married, 15 Oct 1835, Gloucester, MA, Mary Appleton Jewett,[3] daughter of Rev. David and Rebecca (Reed) Jewett, of Rockport. She was born 28 Nov 1808, Marblehead, MA, and died 8 Jul 1880, Newton, MA, aged 71 years 7 months, of apoplexy.[4]

He was the fifth minister of the first church in Boxford, MA, and was ordained 15 Oct 1834, and dismissed in 1837. He graduated at Amherst in 1831 and was at Andover Theological Seminary in 1834, and at once settled in Boxford. He went to Waltham at the conclusion of his first pastorate and was settled there for twenty years. Then for ten years he was located at Canaan, New York. Later he moved to Newton Centre, MA, where he died. He was a scholarly man and kept up his studies to the end of his life. He resided Boxford and Waltham, MA, Canaan, NY, and Newton Centre, MA.

iv. Elizabeth Jewett Whitney, b. 28 Mar 1841, Waltham, MA;[8] unmarried; resided at home.
v. Martha Raps Whitney, b. 24 Jul 1843, Waltham, MA;[9] d. 2 Sep 1843.
vi. Martha Raymond Whitney, b. 6 Jan 1845, Waltham, MA;[10] d. 24 Sep 1844.
