Abel⁶ Whitney (Elijah⁵, Elijah⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹), son of Elijah⁵ and Lydia (McElwain) Whitney, was born 15 Feb 1778, Putney, VT, and died 26 Sep 1857, Williamstown, VT, aged 79 years 7 months 11 days, of dropsy.

He married, 5 Jun 1804, Williamstown, VT, Phebe Hopkins. She was born 16 Mar 1785, and died 1872.
