Major Hachaliah6 Whitney (Jesse5, Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jesse5 and Mary (Cheney) Whitney, was born 5 Apr 1762, Mendon, MA,[1] and died 14 Nov 1848, Milford, MA, aged 86 years 7 months 10 days, of typhus fever.[2]
He married firstly, 29 Jun 1786, Milford, MA, Abigail Nelson,[3] daughter of Gershom and Mercy (Puffer) Nelson. She was born 30 Jul 1765,[4] was baptized 8 Sep 1765, Milford, MA, and died 10 Dec 1838, Milford, MA, aged 73 years.[5]
He married secondly, 9 Oct 1842, Milford, MA, Olive (Madden) Cobb,[6] daughter of Michael and Mary (Bullard) Madden. She was born 1 Jun 1777, Milford, MA, and died 1849 (but appears in 1850 census below living with her son Elmer and his family). She had married, 16 Mar 1794, Milford, MA, Lewis Cobb, son of Stephen and Mary (Foster) Cobb. He was born 8 Aug 1768, Sharon, MA, and died 19 Jun 1837, Milford, MA.
He was in the Revolutionary war in the Mendon and Milford companies, and later was captain, and in 1809 major, of the local military regiment. He inherited part of the old homestead on which he always resided. He resided Milford, MA.
