Family:Whitney, Royal (1801-a1880)

Royal⁷ Whitney (Ezra⁶, Ezra⁵, John⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹, Thomas^A), son of Ezra⁶ and Sally (Hooker) Whitney, was born 11 Apr 1801, Rockingham Township, Windham County, Vermont. He moved with his parents and siblings from the family home in Vermont to Allegany County, New York in 1817.

He married, Mary Elsie Boeylan sometime before 1830. She was born about 1811, NY.

Royal's father Ezra had a first cousin named Uriel who was also listed in some records as Royal. This may be a clue as to Royal's real name. He also could have been named after his maternal uncle Reul or uncle Israel.
