| 1909, June 5: | Mrs. Joanna Shoemaker, widow of Hon. G.O. Whitney, of Hamilton, Bermuda, married Asher Francis Black on April 27 at Mount Airy, Penn. Mr. Black was a former well-known merchant of Malden, Mass. The couple will go eventually to Mr. Black's summer home on Cliff Island, and next winter to Bermuda, where Mrs. Black has a beautiful home. (Malden Evening Mail, April 30) |
| 1913, June 19: | Miss Whitney, daughter of the late George O. Whitney of Eagle's Nest, Pembroke, is the widow of Charles H. Wood of Meridian, N.J., who died there on June 5. He was a young man, and had been a regular visitor to Bermuda for many years. |
