Family:Whitney, George Grandison (1820-a1880)
George Grandison7 Whitney (Samuel Starfield6, Thomas5, James4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Samuel Starfield6 and Lois (Stewart) Whitney, was born 20 May 1820, New Canaan, CT, and died after Oct 1874.
He married firstly, 1850, Bedford, NY, Elizabeth Ann Blanchard, daughter of John and Mary6 (Whitney) Blanchard, and granddaughter of Thomas5 and Jemima (Smellage) Whitney, and thus his first cousin. She was born Stamford, CT, and died 19 Jun 1858, New Canaan, CT, where she was buried in the Comstock and Weed Cemetery.
He married secondly, 2 Mar 1869, Poundridge, NY, Lucy Ann (Bartow) Parkiton, daughter of Stephen and Sally Maria (Clinton) Bartow, and widow of Leander Parkiton, of New Canaan. She was born 23 Jan 1826, New Canaan, CT, and died after Oct 1874.
Phoenix says the following:
- ". . . a shoemaker . . . . They were living at New Canaan in Oct. 1874."
Children of George Grandison7 and Elizabeth Ann (Blanchard) Whitney, all born New Canaan, CT:
i. Franklin Pierce8 Whitney, b. 14 Apr 1852; a farmer; was living at New Canaan in Oct 1874, unmarried. ii. Caroline Whitney, b. 17 Feb 1854; was living with her aunt, Mrs. Louisa (Blanchard) Lyon, at Stamford, CT, in Oct 1874, unmarried. iii. Adeline Whitney, b. 4 Oct 1856; was adopted by Augustus and Hannah (Chichester) Tuttle, of New Canaan, a few days before her mother's death; and was living with them, at New Canaan, under the name of Elizabeth Tuttle, in Oct 1874.
George Grandison7 and Lucy Ann (Bartow)(Parkiton) Whitney had no children.
