Samuel6 Whitney (Moses5, Nathaniel4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Moses5 and Mary (Page) Whitney, was born 2 Jul 1785, Gorham, ME, or 8 Jul 1785, Morrill, ME, and died 1869, Morrill, ME, or 27 Mar 1874, Dixmont, ME.
He married, 23 Dec 1810, Belfast or Castine, ME, Margaret Darrow. She was born 15 Mar 1792, Morrill, ME, and died Feb 1883.
He resided Belmont and Morrill, ME.

i. Rev. Doty L.7 Whitney, b. abt. 1812, d. 25 June 1856 in Morrill, ME; m. ca. 1830, Vinalhaven, ME, Sarah Burgess, b. abt. 1811, d. 27 December 1891. Both are buried in the Morrill Cemetery in Morrill, ME. He had two daughters: i. Helen M. Whitney, b. abt. 1840, d. 1908; m. Ephraim F. Sheldon, b. 1835, d. 1870. Both are buried in Morrill Cemetery in Morrill, ME.
ii. Martha A. Whitney, b. abt. 1847 in Morrill, ME, d. October 1929 in Belfast, ME; m. Charles Francis Wilton.
ii. Lydia Ann Whitney, b. -----; m. George Pratt on 31 July 1851 in Belmont, ME; resided Charlestown, MA. iii. Elizabeth Whitney, b. abt. 1814; m. on 20 June 1842 in Brownfield, ME to Nathan Carsley, b. 20 April 1817 in Bridgton, ME, the son of Seth and Susannah (Whitney) Carsley of Harrison, ME (please insert link); resided in Harrison, ME. iv. Harriett Whitney, b. -----; m.(1) Eben Rowe; m.(2) Cyrus Acorn; resided ME. v. Henry Whitney, b. 24 Jun 1824 or 30 June 1825, Morrill, ME; m. (1) Emily R. Mears, (2)Sarah Thomas, (3) Martha Ellen Merriam. vi. Martha Ann Whitney, b. ca. 1826; "of Waltham" m. (int. 6 Mar 1847, Waltham, MA[1]) 8 Apr 1847, Medford, MA, Richard Dixon;[2] he was b. ca. 1821, son of Samuel and Margaret (-----) Dixon; carpenter; 3 ch.; resided CO. vii. Edmund C. Whitney, b. 15 Jun 1831, Morrill, ME; m. Eliza Spear on 1 June 1862 in Morrill, ME; Census: He is found in the censuses of 1850 through 1880 residing in Morrill, ME, where he was first a farmer and then a brick mason. His mother Margaret lived with them in the censuses of 1870 and 1880. They are not found after the 1880 census. If they removed to Big Timber, MT as related by F.C. Pierce, it was after 1880, and they do not appear in the 1900 census there. No children are shown in any census.
viii. Emily A. Whitney, b. ca. 1833 or 1828; m. Ephraim Redman of Brooklin, ME on 16 October 1861 in Morrill, ME; resided Portland, ME. In 1850, Emily resided in the home of Charles and Mary Burt in Belmont, ME. ix. George A. Whitney, b. 8 Jan 1835, Morrill, ME; m. Nellie W. Thorne.
