John Colby⁸ Whitney (James⁷, Benjamin⁶, Jonathan⁵, Isaac⁴, Nathaniel³, Benjamin², John¹), son of James⁷ and Rachel W. (Holden) Whitney, was born 24 May 1835, Bridgton, ME, and died 1 Mar 1919, prob. Standish, ME.

He married 29 Dec 1856, Sweden, ME, Sarah Elizabeth Woodberry, daughter of Andrew and Abigail B. (Walker) Woodberry. She was born 9 Jun 1833, Sweden, ME, and died 15 Mar 1899, prob. Standish, ME.

John and Sarah are buried in the Hamlin Cemetery in Standish, ME.
