John Colby8 Whitney (James7, Benjamin6, Jonathan5, Isaac4, Nathaniel3, Benjamin2, John1), son of James7 and Rachel W. (Holden) Whitney, was born 24 May 1835, Bridgton, ME, and died 1 Mar 1919, prob. Standish, ME.

He married 29 Dec 1856, Sweden, ME, Sarah Elizabeth Woodberry, daughter of Andrew and Abigail B. (Walker) Woodberry. She was born 9 Jun 1833, Sweden, ME, and died 15 Mar 1899, prob. Standish, ME.

John and Sarah are buried in the Hamlin Cemetery in Standish, ME.

i. Carrie Abbie9 Whitney, b. ca. 1865, ME.
ii. James Andrew Whitney, b. ca. 1866, ME; m. ca. 1895, Nellie Wooster. He was admitted to the church 4 May 1902 by profession, East Hartford, CT.[1] She was admitted to the church 5 Jan 1908, by confession, East Hartford, CT.[2] They had one child who d. bef. 1900.
