Silas⁷ Whitney (Cornelius⁶, Cornelius⁵, Matthias⁴, Cornelius³, Joshua², John¹), son of Cornelius⁶ and Rhoda (Gould) Whitney, was born 10 Oct 1809, VT, and died 5 Apr 1891, IA.

He married, 8 Mar 1838, Sandy Creek, NY, Matilda Cross. She was born 2 Sep 1814.

He resided Coleridge, NE. He was a farmer. He resided Centerville, NY, and IA.

ii.	Loretta Whitney, b. 21 Aug 1840; m. L. H. Perkins; resided Valentine, NE. He was b. 24 Feb 1827; is a stockraiser and farmer. Ch.: Mrs. W. N. Orris, b. 22 Feb 1866; resided Sloan, IA; E. G., b. 1 Apr 1871; resided Valentine, NE.
iii.	Roxanna Whitney, b. ca. 1843, NY; m. ----- Fay; resided Salida, CO.
