Mary Elisabeth8 Whitney (George Washington7, John Smith6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), daughter of George Washington7 and Prudence (Stone) Whitney, was born 1837, Dana, MA, and died 22 Jan 1857, Dana, MA.
She married 12 Dec 1853, Greenwich MA, William Stone. He was born circa 1823, MA, and died 5 Jul 1863, Port Hudson, LA.
Her death is dated from a transcription of her headstone at Quabbins. It seems possible that she died in childbirth as her last child was given her name. He remarried in 1861, then died in the Civil War.

i. Rinaldo W Stone, b. Feb 1855, MA. ii. Mary Elizabeth Stone, b. Jan 1857, MA., d. 14 Feb 1876, probably at Dana.
