Joseph7 Whitney (Palmer6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), born in Orange, Massachusetts, 8 Aug 1798; married 20 Nov 1823, Sophronia Taylor, born 10 Nov 1805; died 10 Jan 1882.

Joseph Whitney who married a daughter of Joseph Taylor, resided in Gilsum from 1823 to 1826; he then moved to Java, New York, and finally settled in Thomson, Illinois, where he died. He was a farmer. He died 24 Nov 1872; resided Gilsum, New Hampshire, Java, N. Y., and Thomson, Illinois.

ii. Nancy Whitney, born Oct. 5, 1825; married 19 Feb 1862, ----- French; resided Thomson, Illinois; born 20 Apr 1828. He is a farmer, Ch: Louie C., born 25 May 1864; married 8 Apr 1885, ----- Rupple; Melvin E., born 26 Apr 1865; died 24 Aug 1869; William N., born 20 Jul 1866; died 20 Sep 1869.
iii. Alonzo Whitney, born 6 Mar 1827; married and resided Thomson, Illinois.
iv. Edward Whitney, born 7 Aug 1829; married Catherine Plough,
v. Jasper Whitney, born 23 Aug 1831; married Sarah E. Alden.
vi. Susannah B. Whitney, born 28 Jul 1834; died 30 Sep 1837.
vii. Elvira Whitney, born 8 Aug 1839; married ----- Taylor; resided New York.
ix. Luther Whitney, born 7 Dec 1841; married Ellen A. Willey.
x. Susanna Whitney, born 28 Jul 1834; died unm.
