Family:Whitney, William Bartholomew (1778-1849)

William Bartholomew7 Whitney (Samuel6, Joseph5, Timothy4, John3, John2, John1), son of Samuel6 and Mary (Whitney) Whitney, was born 4 Oct 1778, Worcester, MA, and died Apr 1849, Sophiasburg, ON, Canada.

He married 28 May 1805, Lynn, MA, Lydia Ann Lawrence,[1] daughter of Simon and Sybil (Robbins) Lawrence. She was born 21 Dec 1785, Littleton, MA, and died Apr 1869. She married secondly, Jacob Parliament.

He was born in Worcester, MA, in 1778; from 1782-1798 he resided in Gilsum, NH. During the latter year he went to Littleton, MA, to learn the trade of Morocco leather dressing. After his marriage they resided in Lynn, MA, where he worked at his trade until the spring of 1812 when they moved to Lower Canada and kept a tavern nine miles from St. Johns for three years. They then moved to Burlington, VT, and kept a tavern three years and then moved to Kingston's Mills, Upper Canada, and farmed for two years. Later he moved to Hallowell, U.C., and then after five years to Sophiasburg, U.C., where he died, and was buried in Sand Point cemetery. He resided Belleville, Ontario.

iv. Lydia Whitney, b. 18 Dec 1811; m. 28 Jun 1831, John Cole, a farmer, born 8 Mar 1813; resided Nosler, ON.
v. Joshua Whitney, b. 21 Jun 1829; m. 14 Mar 1837, Mary Eliza Williston; resided Demorestville, ON. He was a blacksmith.
Ch.: Ichabod Franklin, b. 21 Jan 1858, Mary Lydia, b. 9 Nov 1862.
