Edwin8 Whitney (Ebenezer7, Ebenezer6, Ebenezer5, Ezekiel4, Ebenezer3, Richard2, John1), son of Ebenezer7 and Anis (Kingsbury) Whitney, was born 8 Mar 1829, and died 26 Aug 1867, in his 39th year [sic]. He is buried in New Storrs Cemetery, Storrs, CT.[1]

He married, 31 Oct 1860, Hartford, CT, Minerva Barrows, of Mansfield, CT. She was born 10 Sep 1830, CT, and died 17 Jan 1927. She is buried in New Storrs Cemetery, Storrs, CT.[2]

He graduated at the Connecticut Normal School, 9 Oct 1856. Was assistant superintendent and principal teacher of the reform school, Providence, RI. He gave his farm in Mansfield, worth $15,000 for the benefit of the Soldiers' Orphan Home. Was Superintendant of the same when he died, in his thirty-ninth year, greatly lamented. His life was insured for $10,000. His wife was also a graduate of the same school.

ii. Mary Whitney, b. ca. 3 Sep 1866; d. 26 Aug 1867, aged 11 months 23 days. She is buried in New Storrs Cemetery, Storrs, CT.[4]
iii. Edwina Whitney, b. ca. 1868, CT; d. after 1930, then unmarried.
