Col. Joel⁷ Whitney (Joel⁶, Jonathan⁵, Jonathan⁴, Jonathan³, Benjamin², John¹), born Seneca, New York, 1 Mar 1796; married 3 Apr 1817, Esther Belding; born 27 Nov 1796; died Apr. 24, 1867.

Joel Whitney, born Seneca Castle, New York was a farmer and resided all his life on his farm, about four miles west of Geneva, New York. He was a colonel in the New York state militia service about 1835, and was always known and addressed thereafter as Colorado. Whitney. He never held any other public position. He died aged 85 years 10 months and 11 days. He died 12 Jan 1882; resided Seneca Castle, New York.

vi.	Anna Eliza Whitney, born Oct 24, 1825; married Oct 2, 1844, Albert Benjamin. She died Mar.10, 1890; resided Reading, Michigan Ch.: Hattie E., b.-----; resided Reading.
vii.	Esther Augusta Whitney, born Apr 24, 1828, married Mar 6, 1850, Charles Darrow; resided 118 Pulteney St. Geneva, New York. He was born Nov 5, 1814; died Feb 1, 1860. Ch.: Charles H., born Oct 24, 1857; married June 16, 1880, Hattie C. Bennett, wife of C.H.D., born in Brooklyn, New York., Feb 24, 1859; ch., H. Whitney, born 16 May 1881, and Mary A., born Sept 19, 1894. Occupation of Charles H. Darrow, nurseryman and fruit grower. Address, Geneva.
viii.	Joel Belding Whitney, born 2 Jun 1830; died unmarried Jan 7, 1883.
ix.	Charles Carroll Whitney, born Oct 2, 1832; married Marion Clarke and Julia L. Brown.
x.	Amelia Clarissa Whitney, born Nov 6, 1834; married Nov 2, 1853, J. Wesley Runyan. She died Dec 13, 1855, s.p.
