Leavitt C.⁷ Whitney (Leonard⁷, Solomon⁶, Solomon⁵, Nathaniel⁴, Nathaniel³, John², John¹), son of Leonard⁷ and Polly (Elliot) Whitney, was born 6 Dec 1812, Canterbury, NH, and died 24 May 1899, Boscawen, NH.

He married, 16 Mar 1837, Nancy Sanborn Sargent, daughter of Thomas and Polly (French) Sargent. She was born 10 Mar 1817, Loudon, NH, and died 29 Apr 1882, Boscawen, NH.

i.	George W.8 Whitney, b. 16 Jul 1841, Canterbury, NH; d. 17 Feb 1903; m. 24 May, 1870, Concord, NH, Victoria J. G. Moore, dau. of Matthias Moore, b. ca. 1842, Canterbury, NH, d. after 1910. In 1880, he claimed to be widowed, but Victoria G. Moore is listed separately in the 1880 census, and under her maiden name she m.(2) 13 Nov 1881, NH, William H. Fowler. Apparently George and Victoria were divorced. Child: Mrs. Nellie M. Marden, res. in Boscawen.
ii.	Charles S. Whitney, b. 27 Jul 1843, Canterbury, NH; went to the Civil war and it was never known what became of him.
iii.	Armenia J. Whitney, b. 10 Dec 1845, Canterbury, NH; m. 14 Dec 1875, Boscawen, NH, Francis H. Morse; resided in Boscawen, NH. No children.
