The family was living in Lyncombe, Walcot, Somersetshire, England where William worked as an apothecary at the Eastern Dispencery in 1851. He was a widower.

Children of William Whitney and an unknown woman:

i.	Emma Whitney, b. ca. 1828, Gloucestershire, England. She was listed as an embroideress in 1851.
ii.	John Whitney, b. ca. 1832, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. He was listed as an assistant apothecary in 1851.
