Sumner P.⁸ Whitney (Lewis Jones⁷, Jabez⁶, Jacob⁵, Jonas⁴, Eleazar³, Thomas², John¹), son of Lewis Jones⁷ and Ruth (Howard) Whitney, was born 1827, Athol, MA, and died 1878. He was buried in Central Cemetery, Orange, MA.^[1]

He married, 17 Jul 1853, Athol, MA, Elisa Jane Peabody,^[2] daughter of William and Mary (Stevens) Peabody. She was born 16 Nov 1835, Gardner, MA, and died 1918. She was buried in Central Cemetery, Orange, MA.^[3]
