Daniel E.⁶ Whitney (Isaac⁶, Richard⁵, Israel⁴, Ebenezer³, Richard², John¹), son of Isaac⁶ and Abigail (Edson) Whitney, was born about 21 Dec 1811, Springfield, VT, and died 14 Apr 1899, Brookline, VT, aged 87 years 3 months 23 days, of chorea.^[1]

He married firstly, 25 May 1839, Athens, VT, Achsah Ranney,^[2] daughter of William and Elizabeth (Wells) Ranney. She was born 30 Dec 1820, Westminster, VT, and died after 1860.

He married secondly, 1 Jan 1869, Athens, VT, Lois A. (Barry) Wheeler, daughter of Michael and Elenor (Glazier) Barry.^[3] She was born about 1828, Hague, NY, and died after 1880.

i.	Orlin M.⁸ Whitney, b. ca. 1843, VT; d. aft. 1910; m. Dec 1869, Annett/Nettie -----.
ii.	Lillas V. Whitney, b. ca. 1856, VT; d. May 1870, Brookline, VT, aged 14 years of consumption.^[4]

Children of Daniel E.⁷ and Lois A. (Barry)(Wheeler) Whitney:

iii.	Bertha E.⁸ Whitney, b. ca. 1873, VT.

His parentage is proven by his second marriage record and his death record. He lived with the family of his uncle Israel⁶ and Elizabeth (Holt) Whitney in 1850, 1860, and 1870.
