Alexander8 Whitney (Artemas Hammond7, John Smith6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of Artemas Hammond7 and Nabby (Skinner) Whitney, was born 25 Oct 1824, Dana, MA, and died 27 Jun 1909, Ludlow, MA, aged 82 years 8 months 2 days, of pneumonia.[1]
He married firstly, 28 Nov 1846, Ludlow, MA [Pierce], or 20 Jan 1845, Ludlow, MA, Martha Maria Hayden, daughter of Walter and Orpha (Wright) Hayden.[2] She was born 29 Dec 1824, and died 29 May 1881, Ludlow, MA, aged 56 years, of paralysis.[3]
He married secondly, 14 Dec 1882, Ludlow, MA, Mrs. Lucy C. (Plumley) Keith, daughter of Elijah and Clarissa (Hayden) Plumley.[4] She was born 8 May 1828, Ludlow, MA, and died 2 Jan 1898, Ludlow, MA, aged 69, of cancer and bronchitis.[5]
He was a farmer; resided North Wilbraham, MA.

(son) Whitney, b. 7 Jun 1853, Ludlow, MA;[7]; d. 9 Oct 1853, Ludlow, MA, aged 4 months, of marasmus.[8] ii. Charles M. Whitney, b. 20 Jun 1854; d. Nov 1854. iii. Clara Whitney, b. 28 Dec 1856; d. 13 Jun 1863 [Pierce] or 15 Jan 1862, Ludlow, MA, aged 7 months 15 days.[9]
