William Ellery Channing8 Whitney (Benjamin Franklin7, Cyrus6, Isaiah5, Isaiah4, Isaiah3, Thomas2, John1), son of Benjamin Franklin7 and Louisa (Lawrence) Whitney, was born 11 Apr 1851 [Pierce] or 18 Apr 1851, Harvard, MA [given name omitted],[1] and died after 1888.

He married, 6 Oct 1881, Alma C. Walker. She was born 22 Jan 1854.

He was graduated at the Massachusetts Agricultural college in the class of 1872. Studied architecture in Boston until 1877, when he went to Minneapolis, where he has since resided practicing his profession; resided Minneapolis, MN. Designed the Horace Hills Irvine home on Summit Avenue, in St Paul, Minnesota, which was donated in 1965 for use as the Minnesota governor's residence (plans available at the Minnesota Historical Society).
