John J.9 Whitney (Aaron8, Benjamin7, Aaron6, Daniel5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Aaron8 and Lucretia (Gilbert) Whitney, was born 25 Feb 1843, NY, and died 10 Nov 1909, San Bernardino Co., CA.
He married, 31 Jan 1865, Big Flats, NY, Lucy Burdick.
They settled at Elmira, NY, and were living there in 1874. He enlisted at Big Flats, in 1862, in Company C, 5th Regiment, New York State Volunteer Artillery; was with the regiment in all of its engagements; and was mustered out with it, in 1865.
