Charles L.8 Whitney (Alanson7, Samuel6, David5, Matthias4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), son of Alanson7 Delaney (Young) Whitney, was born 11 Sep 1876, IA, and died 19 Dec 1956, Mason City, IA.

He married firstly, about 1901, Etta May Jordan. She died between 1920 and 1925.

He married secondly, between 1925 and 1930, Mabel A. (-----) Bartholomew.

WWI draft registration: Charles Earnest Whitney, RFD New Hartford twp, Bremer Co, Iowa. Age 40, born Nov. 17, 1877. Self employed farmer. Nearest relative: Minnie Whitney, RFD New Hartford, Bremer Co, Iowa. Medium height, medium build, blue eyes, dark brown hair. Signed Sept. 12, 1918 Allison, Iowa.

All the children say their mother's name was May Jordan.
