Peter6 Whitney (Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Timothy5 and Alice (Whitney) Whitney, was born 20 Apr 1760 [Pierce], or 20 Apr 1762, Petersham, MA,[1] and died 6 Mar 1826, Chester, MA, aged 66 years, of influenza.[2]

He married Mary Blair, parentage unknown. She was born about 1765, and died 11 Mar 1826, Chester, MA, aged 60 years, of influenza.[3] She might be the Mary Blair, daughter of Robert and Sarah (Frost) Blair, born 1 Apr 1767, Williamstown, MA.

He was a tailor and resided at Chester, where he conducted his business. Was buried in Huntington.

vi. Nancy Whitney, b. Chester; m. at Salisbury, CT, Elisha Avery; was a farmer and died at Montgomery, MA.
vii. Polly Whitney, b. -----; m. (int. 21 Dec 1811, Chester, MA) Francis Harwood;[6] resided Huntington, MA.
viii. Eliza Whitney, b. 20 Sep 1804; d. 22 Mar 1871, Suffield, CT; m. (int. 3 Aug 1828, Chester, MA[7]), 19 Aug 1828, John Wells Loomis, b. 23 May 1805. He was a manufacturer of tobacco and cigars; resided Suffield, CT.
ix. George Whitney, b. 20 May 1806; m. Amanda M. Henry.
