Family:Whitney, Elwin F. (1859-1894)
Elwin F.8 Whitney (Barnabas7, Paul6, Timothy5, Jonas4, Moses3, Richard2, John1), son of Barnabas7 and Emily (Bracey) Whitney, was born about 8 Aug 1859, Canada, and died 15 Jan 1894, Ashburnham, MA, aged 33 years 10 months 7 days, of typhoid pneumonia (see Notes below).[1] He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.[2]
He "Edwin" married, 6 Nov 1883, Leominster, MA, Ida Frances Danforth, daughter of Albert and Almira L. Fostina (Attleton) Danforth.[3] She was born 6 Nov 1860, Bolton, MA, and died after 1940. She m.(2) 1 Jan 1895, Leominster, MA, Edward C. Harrington, b. ca. 1861, Scranton, PA, son of James B. and Luanda I. (-----) Harrington.[4]
He was probably the "Alsain F. Whitney" from the 1861 census.

i. Mabel Fostina Whitney, b. 15 Sep 1885, Leominster, MA;[5] d. 10 Sep 1886, Leominster, MA, aged 11 months 25 days, of congestion of lungs.[6] ii. Ralph Albert Whitney, b. 13 Jun 1887, Leominster, MA;[7] m. 15 Aug 1908, Leominster, MA, Susie Edna Mager, b. ca. 1887, NS, dau. of Edward D. and Emma C. (Seamond) Mager.[8] iii. Florence M. Whitney, b. Dec 1889, MA; d. aft. 1900.
Notes
Elwin F. Whitney's death record calls his father Elwin O. Whitney, born Calais, ME,[9] but I believe that that is inaccurate. No such person can be found, and all other elements of the record agree with the data for a son of Barnabas Whitney, as placed above. Furthermore, both are buried in Lot 169, Section 2, Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster, MA.
