Silas6 Whitney (Aaron5, Samuel4, Richard3, John2, Henry1), son of Aaron5 and Hannah (Turney) Whitney,[1] was born 15 Aug 1769, Fairfield, CT,[2] and died 20 Feb 1854, Peekskill, NY.[3]

He married firstly, 10 May 1788, Frederickstown, NY, Nancy Russell,[4] daughter of Thomas and Charity (Hopkins) Russell.[5] She was born about 1768, Frederickstown, NY,[6] and died 27 Mar 1827, Patterson, NY, in her 58th year.[7]

He married secondly, after 1827, Phebe (Owen) Horton, parentage, birth, and death unknown. She married firstly, Jasper Horton, of whom nothing is known.

Phoenix says the following:

He studied medicine with Dr. ----- Williams, of Greenfield, now Trumbull, Conn., but his occupation throughout life was that of a trader, first in Frederickstown, now Kent, afterward at Southeast, and later at Patterson, N. Y. She died in the latter place, 27 March 1827, in her 58th year, and was buried in the cemetery near the Baptist Church at Towner's Corners. He went to Peekskill, N. Y., to live with his son, Washington Silas Whitney, and there died, 20 Feb. 1854, according to his gravestone in Cortlandt Cemetery, which also says that he was born 29 Aug. 1769. His second wife was Phebe Owen, widow of ----- Horton. She was the mother of his son's wife.

ii. Silas Whitney, b. about 1794, Frederickstown, NY;[9] d. about 15 Oct 1824, Middletown, NJ, unmarried. He "was captain of a company of men from Southeast, N. Y., in the 136th N. Y. S. Militia, who served for four months at Greenwich Barracks, in New York City, in the war of 1812."
iii. Bradley Francis Whitney, b. about 1796, Southeast, NY;[10] m. Ann Birch.
iv. Peter Radcliff Whitney, b. 22 May 1798, Southeast, NY;[11] m.(1) Eliza Baker; m.(2) Dorcas Baldwin.
v. Aaron Thomas Whitney, b. about 1800 or 1801, Southeast, NY;[12] d. before 1805, Southeast, NY; buried in the Jacob Ellis burial-ground in Southeast.
vi. Thomas Aaron Whitney, b. 20 Feb 1805, Southeast, NY;[13] m.(1) Naomi Jane Dykeman; m.(2) Susan Elizabeth Newman.
vii. Washington Silas Whitney, b. 7 May 1807, Franklin, NY;[14] m. Nancy Maria Horton.
viii. Nancy Ann Whitney, b. 7 May 1807, Franklin, NY;[15] m.(1) Levi Owen; m.(2) Gilbert Drew.

Silas6 and Phebe (Owen)(Horton) Whitney had no known children.
