Lt. Jesse5 Whitney (Jonathan4, Jonathan3, Benjamin2, John1), son of Jonathan4 and Lydia (Jones) Whitney, was born 24 Nov 1730, Mendon, MA,[1] and died 26 Apr 1815, Milford, MA, in his 85th year.[2]
He married firstly, 22 Sep 1757, Mendon, MA, Mary Cheney, daughter of William, Jr., and Joanna (Thayer) Cheney, both "of Mendon". She was born 27 Jul 1736, Dorchester, MA, and died 4 Jun 1777, Milford, MA, aged 40 years.
Marriage intentions were published 19 Apr 1779, Mendon, MA, for him and second wife Ruth (Legg) Wight. She was born 30 Feb 1739, Mendon, MA, and died 21 Oct 1785, Milford, MA, in her 47th year. She had married firstly, 3 Dec 1761, Mendon and Milford, MA, Eleazer Wight.
Marriage intentions were published 5 Jul 1794, Milford, MA, for him and third wife "Mrs." Abigail Rawson "of Upton". He "of Milford" married, 21 Aug 1794, Upton, MA, "Mrs." Abigail Rawson, daughter of Wilson and Abigail (Temple) Rawson. She was born 9 Jun 1743, Upton, MA, and died 10 Jul 1807, Milford, MA, aged 70 years.
Pierce says the following:[3]
- He inherited part of his father's estate, on which he lived and died. Was lieut. in the Revolutionary army, and his civil and social standing was of the best. His will is dated Apr. 17, 1810, and it was probated May 23, 1815. Lieut. David STEARNES was exec.
