Joel6 Whitney (Abijah5, Daniel4, Henry3, John2, Henry1), son of Abijah5 and Elizabeth (Ellsworth) Whitney, was born 29 Nov 1788, Warwick, NY, and died 11 Feb 1858, Brooklyn, NY, aged 69 years.
He married, 3 Dec 1808, Florida, NY, Mary Ann Jennings.
Phoenix says the following:
- "Joel Whitney, b. in Warwick, N. Y., 29 Nov. 1788; married, 3 Dec. 1808, in Florida, N. Y., Mary Ann Jennings. They settled in Florida. He died in Brooklyn, N. Y., 11 Feb. 1858, aged 69 years, at the house of his son, Richard Jennings Whitney."

i. Richard Jennings7 Whitney, b. -----; a cabinet-maker, settled at Brooklyn, NY, and was living there in Dec 1875. i. Jesse Whitney, b. -----; was living at Brooklyn, NY, Dec 1875. i. Abijah Whitney, b. 23 Aug 1814, Bellvale, Warwick, NY; d. after Jun 1875; m. 1 Nov 1848, New York, NY, Elizabeth Jane Turner; a tailor, and then an insurance-agent there, at 261 and 263 Broadway. i. (daughter) Whitney, b. -----; died young.
