James⁷ Whitney (Jonathan⁶, Jonathan⁵, James⁴, Joseph³, Jonathan², John¹), son of Jonathan⁶ and Miranda (Marvin) Whitney; born New London, Ohio, 16 May 1833; married 3 May 1855, Mary Helms; born 22 Jun 1832. He was a farmer; resided Sciola, Iowa.

Children of James⁷ and Mary (Helms) Whitney:

i.	Francis Marion8 Whitney, born 4 May 1861; married Hattie B. Chandler.
ii.	Harriett Elnora Whitney, born 18 Mar 1864; married 10 Oct 1883, J.W. Ferris; He is a farmer. Ch.: James Bently, born 6 Jul 1884; Frederic Wm., born 20 Feb 1887; died 9 Jun 1890; Francis, born 14 Jun 1891; resided Sciola.
iii.	James Alex Whitney, born 27 Sep 1866; married Eva Taylor.
iv.	Eliza E. Whitney, born 12 Feb 1856; died 11 Nov 1857.
v.	Miranda R. Whitney, born 27 Aug 1858; died 30 Dec 1860.
