Family:Whitney, Ephraim (1799-1879)

Capt. Ephraim⁷ Whitney (Samuel⁶, Abner⁵, John⁴, Isaiah³, Thomas², John¹) son of Samuel⁶ and Hannah (Thompson) Whitney; born in Falmouth, Maine, 22 Sep 1799; married in Corinth, 28 May 1826, Nancy Fisher Skinner; born 25 May 1806; died in California, Mar 10, 1886. About the year 1822 he bought land in East Corinth, Maine, where he lived until the fall of 1875, when he moved to Santa Cruz, California, where he died. He was a farmer; he died 6 Apr 1879; resided Corinth, Maine. and Santa Cruz, California.

Children of Ephraim⁷ and Nancy Fisher (Skinner) Whitney:

i.	Charles G.8 Whitney, born Apr 15, 1829; died 9 Jun 1858.
ii.	Sarah M. Whitney, born 28 Jun 1831; married 20 Nov 1859, John N. F. Marsh; resided Santa Cruz.
iii.	Alvin W. Whitney, born 27 May 1838; married Louise Mcdonald.
iv.	Mary Jane Whitney, born 13 May 1840; married 12 May 1875, George P. Lake; resided Santa Cruz.
v.	Eudora Melissa Whitney, born 13 Oct 1847; married 19 Mar 1874, Henry W. Silsby; resided San Francisco, California, 621 1/2 Post street.
vi.	Elijah Skinner Whitney, born 4 Oct 1834; married 8 Dec 1858, Allaseba T. French, at East Corinth; born 18 Dec 1834, s. p. He is a merchant, and resided Los Gatos, California. He was born in Corinth, Maine; commenced a mercantile business in Corinth, Maine, in the fall of 1860, and continued in said business until the fall of 1875, when he moved to Santa Cruz, California, where he lived ten years, after which he moved to Los Gatos, California, where he engaged in mercantile, real estate, and railway business. In the year of 1887 he was made excursion agent of the Union Pacific R'y. He has made forty-five trips across the continent from one ocean to the other, besides other partial trips. Is now passenger agent of the Northern Pacific R'y at Los gatos.
vii.	Daniel Elmon Whitney, born Nov.13, 1835; died 3 May 1837.
viii.	Nancy Whitney, born 1 Jun 1843; died 3 Jun 1843.
