Shugbrough Whitney, Esq., parentage unknown, was born say 1690?, and died 1747. His will was written 27 Nov 1745 and proved 3 Feb 1747.

He married Margaret 'Margery' Eyre, daughter of John Eyre of Eyrecourt and Margery Preston.

His name was also listed as "Shuckburg Witney".

He is mentioned in the will of his brother Thomas Whitney, dated 30 Apr 1740, as "Shuckburgh Whitney, Lieut. Colonel in H.M.'s service."

He wrote "a holographic letter, Nov. 26, 1745, from Col. Shugbrough Whitney to Lieut. Campbell, giving an account of the battle of Preston Pans and advice for strategy in future actions."[1]
