at Starkey, N. Y., 5 July 1827, John DeWitt Yost, a farmer, son of Nicholas and Addy Ann (Stoll) Yost, of Starkey, where he was born 5 Dec. 1807. They dwelt at Starkey till 1833; and then moved to Thurston, N. Y., where they were living in May 1875.

4867 III. Sophia Maria Tarney, b. at Milo, N. Y., 13 Ap. 1819; married there, 4 July 1835, by Elder Marshall, Baptist, to Peter Covert, a carpenter and joiner, son of John S. and Elizabeth (Fosgate) Covert, of Ovid, N. Y., and, after 1837, of Ohio. He was born at Ovid, 17 Sept. 1806. They settled at Milo; then went to Tyrone, N. Y., and thence, in Dec. 1838, to Reed, Ohio, where they lived till 10 March 1860; and then moved to Ashland, Mich., where he died 15 June 1874. He was buried in Cazenovia, Mich. She was living at Bailey, Mich., in June 1875. 12481
4868 IV. Sally Irena Tarney, twin, b. at Milo, N. Y., 14 Ap. 1821; married James Bolling. They lived at Albany, Ky., in 1867; later residence not known.
4869 V. Mary Ann Tarney, twin, b. at Milo, N. Y., 14 Ap. 1821; died 16 Ap. 1821.

4870 I. John Gatfield, b. in New York City; married, and settled in New York, where he died about 1859 or 1860. 12488
4871 II. Alfred Arthur Moneypenny Gatfield, b. at 378 Grand Street, New York City, in June 1807; a maker of sashes and blinds; married at Grimsby, Canada West, 10 Oct. 1833, Eliza Ann Crooks, dau. of Francis and Mary (Stag) Crooks,1 of Grimsby, where she was born 18 Aug. 1814. They dwelt at Grimsby till 14 July 1861, when he started to visit New York City, and was killed by a railway-accident near Suspension Bridge, Niagara Falls. He served in the Mexican War, and took part in the capture of Vera Cruz. His wife was living at Port Robinson, Ontario, Canada, in Feb. 1875. 12489

4872 III. Alexander Stewart, was living at 378 Grand Street, New York.
  1 Francis Crooks, a merchant, was born in 1805, at Glasgow, Scotland, son of James Crooks; settled in Grimsby, Upper Canada, in 1800; married in Grimsby, Mary Stag, dau. of Richard Stag; and died at Grimsby in 1845. She died at Niagara, aged 80 years.
