Amos Priest8 Whitney (Amos7, Amos6, Abraham5, John4, Benjamin3, John2, John1), son of Amos7 and Sophia Waterman (Potter) Whitney, was born 27 May 1847, Boston, MA,[1] and died 5 Jan 1932, West Somerville, MA, aged 80 years.
He married firstly, 4 Jan 1869 [Pierce] or 4 Jan 1870, Cambridge, MA, Mary Elizabeth Shackley, daughter of Ebenezer and Esther (Battles) Shackley.[2] She was born 30 Jan 1846, Cambridge, MA, and died 22 Oct 1876, Cambridge, MA, aged 29 years 8 months 22 days.[3]
He married secondly, 29 Jun 1898, Medford, MA (also recorded Cambridge, MA), Emma Gibbs, daughter of William P. and Maria Augusta (Hadlock) Gibbs.[4] She was born about 1843, Lexington, MA, and died 5 Jan 1932, West Somerville, MA, aged 78 years. She had married firstly, an unknown husband, from whom she was divorced.
"Aged Pair Die in Fire. Somerville, Mass., Jan. 6 (U.P.).--Amos P. Whitney, 80 years old, an invalid, and his wife, Emma, 78, were found burned to death in a bedroom of their West Somerville home last night."[5]
