Augustus Whitney, parentage unknown, was born about 1825, MA, and died 2 May 1885, Haverhill, NH, where he is buried.
He married 24 Dec 1849, Wentworth, NH, Lura/Laura Currier, daughter of John and Martha (Converse) Currier. She was born 2 Aug 1829, VT, and died 9 Apr 1889, Bath, NH.
Augustus Whitney came to Haverhill as register of deeds about 1855. Afterwards he was mail route agent for eight years between Springfield, Mass., and Newport, VT. Mr. Whitney was a professional vocal music teacher, and was one of the best drill masters in the art. He was a man of intelligence, and catholic in his views. He married Miss Currier of Wentworth. A daughter lives in Winnepeg, Manitoba and devotes herself to music.[1]
He was a Justice in 1864, Haverhill, NH.

The original page says that Augustus was born in Massachusetts and that his left hand was gone. It was dated June 1863; he was aged 38 at that time. He was listed as a music teacher.[2]
