Bartholomew W.8 Whitney (William Knowlton7, John Smith6, Thomas5, Thomas4, Eleazer3, Thomas2, John1), son of William Knowlton7 and Deborah (Woodward) Whitney, was born 19 Jul 1825, Dana, MA, and died 28 May 1897, Royalston, MA, aged 71 years.[1] He was buried in Old Centre Cemetery, Royalston, MA.[2]

He married, 4 Jun 1850, Rutland, VT, or Athol, MA, Rhoda Long,[3] daughter of Levi Long. She was born 23 Jul 1825, Rutland, VT, and died 1916. She was buried in Old Centre Cemetery, Royalston, MA.[4]

He resided Athol and Royalston, MA.

iii. Emma C. Whitney, b. 26 May 1857, Athol, MA; m. 22 Aug 1876, Royalston, MA, Henry S. Smith, b. ca. 1854, Northfield, MA, son of Henry S. and Anjie J. Smith;[8] resided Winchester, NH. He was b. 6 Jun 1855. Children:
a. Edith M. Smith, b. 10 Jul 1877.
b. Bertha I. Smith, b. Aug 1883.
c. Chester A. Smith, b. 20 Apr 1890.
iv. Mary Sophia Whitney, b. 11 Nov 1859, Athol, MA [given name omitted];[9] d. 23 Jan 1888, Medfield, MA, aged 28 years 8 months 13 days, of heart disease;[10] unmarried.
v. Nora M. Whitney, b. 1 Jun 1863, Athol, MA; d. 28 Sep 1887, Royalston, MA, aged 24 years, of consumption;[11] unmarried.
vi. Annie M. Whitney, b. 1 Jan 1871, Royalston, MA;[12] m. 8 Aug 1891, Winchester, NH, William O. Emery,[13] of Winchester, NH.
