Benjamin4 Whitney (Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Thomas3 and Elizabeth (Lawrence) Whitney, was born 7 Oct 1687, Stow, MA,[1] and died between 19 Oct 1737 and 9 Nov 1737, Boston, MA, aged 50 years.[2]
Benjamin married firstly, 7 Feb 1710/1, Marlborough, MA, Sarah Barrett,[3] daughter of John and Deborah (How) Barrett Jr.. She was born 28 Nov 1692, and died 15 Feb 1730, Marlborough, MA.[4]
Benjamin married secondly, 1730, Abigail Bridge, daughter of Matthew and Abigail (Russell) Bridge. She was born 1 Apr 1696, and died 1 Aug 1767, Boston, MA.[5]
At Boston, MA, his inventory amounted to £4168 less a debt of £637.
He left a will dated 19 Oct 1737, Boston, MA. On 9 Nov 1737, Boston, MA, his will was proved.
On 25 Oct 1749, Benjamin Whitney was late of Boston, decd.
On 12 Mar 1749[/50?], division of estate in Marlborough, made by Abraham Williams, Joseph How, Timothy Brigham, Andrew Rice, and Ephraim Brigham:

- Job Whitney, 2nd son
- Benjamin Whitney, 3rd son
- George Whitney, 4th son

Son Solomon Whitney died intestate, leaving four children, all minors, before 11 Apr 1771. Then his sons Benjamin and Job had David Sanderson of Petersham appointed their guardian, and his daughters Meriam and Sarah had John Stower of Petersham appointed their guardian. The widow Abigail was lately deceased.[6]
Pierce says the following:[7]
- He was one of the first of the family to settle in Boston, about 1737. His estate was appraised at £4,168. He first bought land in Marlboro, Nov. 2, 1710, 321 acres, with house and barn, of Samuel MORSE. In 1711 he was of Simon MAINARD's garrison. He owned large tracts in Marlboro, partly inherited from John and Deborah BARRETT. In his will, dated Oct. 19, and proved Nov. 9, 1737, he speaks of himself as late of Marlboro, now of Boston, and therein wills to his son, Solomon, his "Narragansett right" (Petersham), showing service in the Indian wars.

Sarah Whitney, b. 13 Jul 1723;[14] m. Abraham Joslin. vii. Timothy Whitney, b. 6 Jul 1725;[15] d. before 19 Oct 1737. viii. Dinah Whitney, b. 12 Jul 1727;[16] m. Dea. Elijah Livermore. ix. Job Whitney, b. 22 Oct 1729;[17] d. 13 Jun 1761, Marlborough, MA, unmarried.
