Family:Whitney, Benjamin (1753-1832)
Capt. Benjamin6 Whitney (Solomon5, Benjamin4, Thomas3, Thomas2, John1), son of Solomon5 and Elizabeth (Smith) Whitney, was born 10 Jun 1753, Marlborough, MA,[1] and died 1830, Simpson, or 24 Jun 1832, Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, aged 80 years. He was buried in Saint Georges Anglican Church Cemetery, Drummondville, Quebec, Canada.[2]
He married, Petersham, MA, ----- -----.
He served in the Revolutionary war in the Petersham company as second lieutenant, and later was under Gen. Lee and finally commissioned a captain. She died in Simpson, Quebec. He died in 1830; resided Petersham, MA, and Simpson, Quebec.

Children: a. Benjamin W. Gleason, b. 12 Oct 1806; m. 31 Aug 1831, Lousia Fessenden, of Shrewsbury; 5. ch. (See Hist. of Mid. County, Stow for sketch.)
iii. Job Whitney, b. say 1785. He was probably that Job Whitney who m. Nancy Brown, dau. of Josiah and Rachel (Fellows) Brown.[4] iv. Lucinda Whitney, b. 18 May 1788, Petersham, MA; m. 20 Mar 1808, Three Rivers, QC, John Prentice Cushing. v. Lydia Whitney, b. say 1790. vi. Newhall Whitney, b. 1 May 1791, Petersham, MA; m. Elizabeth Whitehead. vii. Solomon Whitney, b. ca. 1795; m. Lucinda Gee. viii. John Whitney, b. say 1800. If he was born closer to 1777, he might be identical to Capt. John Whitney (s1777-a1806), m. Lovina Bullock. ix. Miriam Whitney, b. ca. 1806, QC; m. 28 Jan 1827, Abbotsford, Rouville Co., QC, Nathaniel Fisk.
