Benjamin5 Whitney ([poss.] Joshua4, Cornelius3, Joshua2, John1), possibly son of Joshua4 and [?Joanna?] (-----) Whitney, was born Oct 1755, CT, and died 27 Aug 1801, Granville, NY.
He married about 1796, Sarah Bassett, daughter of John and Sarah (Cushman) Bassett. She was born 20 Aug 1775 or 27 Aug 1776, and died 27 Mar 1861, French Creek, Chautauqua Co., NY. She is buried in Mina Cemetery, Mina, Chautauqua Co., NY. She married secondly, before 1803, John Farnsworth, son of Josiah and Hannah (Buttrick) Farnsworth. He was born 26 Aug 1766, Granville, NY, and died 28 Dec 1836, French Creek, Chautauqua Co., NY. He had married firstly, before 1791, Mary Grover; secondly, 17 Mar 1799, Bessie Willard; and thirdly Elizabeth Richardson. They removed to Cayuga Co., NY, Chautauqua Co., NY, and Erie Co., PA.
He resided Granville, NY.
Will of John Farnsworth of town of French Creek, Chautauqua County, New York, died 28 Dec 1836, signed 23 Dec 1836, recorded 20 Mar 1837, court 28 Mar 1837, 4 May 1837.
- Land in French Creek and everything else to son Oren O. Farnsworth, on condition that he support my wife Sarah Farnsworth and my daughter Elisa Farnsworth during their natural lives.
