Christopher6 Whitney (William5, William4, William3, Joshua2, John1), son of William5 and Arcoucher (Dutcher) Whitney, was born 28 Sep 1751, Salisbury, CT,[1] and died after 1800.
He "of Salisbury" married, 1 Dec 1774, Sharon meeting house, Sharon, CT, Mary Ticknor "of Sharon",[2] daughter of John and Prudence (-----) Ticknor. She was born 3 Apr 1754, Sharon, CT, and died after 1800.
He was born in Salisbury, CT, where he resided until his majority. He was united in marriage at Sharon, CT, meeting house, and with his bride was said to be the handsomest couple ever married at that place. Soon after his marriage the war with Great Britain broke out, and he enlisted in his country's behalf. After the war, with other continental soldiers, he was paid off in lands; he received a grant of 50 acres of land in the town of Solon, Cortland County, NY. He probably removed there about 1790 or thereabouts from Tinmouth, VT, when he moved from CT. Resided Sharon, CT, Tinmouth, VT, and Solon, NY.

Olive Whitney, b. 18 Mar 1780, Salisbury, CT;[5] d. 1872, Cortland, NY; m. Cortlandville, NY, Colonel Moses Hopkins. He was colonel of militia, sheriff of Cortland county. He died in 1870, ae. 85; was highly respected and esteemed by all. iv. Christopher Whitney, b. 12 Nov 1782; m. Rhoda Wilder.
